MacBook Neo teardown reveals modular design, glue-less battery

A teardown of the new MacBook Neo by Australian YouTube channel Tech Re-Nu shows Apple's most repair-friendly laptop in years. The $599 device comes apart in just six minutes using standard Torx screws (T3, T5, and T8), with no tape or stretch-release adhesive anywhere inside the machine.

The battery lifts out after removing 18 screws, and all major components - including USB-C ports, speakers, and headphone jack - are modular. The only adhesive found was a small amount on the trackpad where a cable connects to the mainboard. Tech Re-Nu didn't fully disassemble the Neo, but reports confirm the keyboard can be replaced individually without swapping the entire top case.

This design represents a significant shift for Apple, which has faced criticism for making recent MacBooks difficult to repair. The clean internal layout features minimal parts and no hinge covers, while cable routing appears intentionally simplified. For a company that's moved toward glued-together devices, the MacBook Neo 's repairability stands out as unusually accessible.
