MacBook Neo Teardown Reveals Battery, Speakers Design

Apple's new MacBook Neo arrives tomorrow at $599, and early teardown insights reveal a design dominated by battery and audio components. YouTuber Dave2D removed the bottom panel to show the internal layout, revealing that most of the space is dedicated to the battery, side-firing stereo speakers, and the new mechanical trackpad.

Only a small portion of the internal space houses the actual computing components. The mechanical trackpad uses a floating plate design over a centered button, a departure from previous MacBook trackpad designs. The A18 Pro chip, originally designed for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, powers this compact Mac, making it the first MacBook to use an iPhone-derived processor.

This internal design choice reflects Apple's strategy of maximizing battery life and audio quality in an ultra-portable form factor. The teardown shows how Apple has optimized every millimeter of space, prioritizing user experience elements like battery endurance and sound quality over raw computing power in this entry-level MacBook.
