Following last year's redesign, the iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to feature a significantly narrower Dynamic Island, approximately 35% smaller than the iPhone 17 Pro's. The Pro Max will be slightly thicker at 8.8mm and over 240 grams to accommodate a larger 5,100 to 5,200 mAh battery. Apple is reportedly dropping the two-tone rear look in favor of a seamless ceramic shield and aluminum frame aesthetic, with a special red color option also rumored.

The camera system sees major changes, including a variable aperture on the 48-megapixel Fusion camera for greater light and depth control, and a new three-layer sensor from Samsung aiming to reduce noise and improve dynamic range compared to Sony's current sensors. The Camera Control button will simplify to pressure sensing only, improving usability and reducing costs. The A20 Pro chip marks Apple's first 2-nanometer processor, offering 15% speed and 30% better power efficiency than the A19 Pro, using TSMC's Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module technology.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to launch in September 2026, alongside a foldable iPhone, with standard models following in spring 2027.
