iPhone 18 Pro Leak: Smaller Dynamic Island, No Camera Cutout

Conflicting rumors about the iPhone 18 Pro's front design have been clarified by a new leak. Weibo leaker Instant Digital shared a Face ID sensor assembly showing three modules on a flex cable: an IR flood illuminator on the left and a centered dot projector with infrared camera. This suggests the flood illuminator is the only component moving under the display.

Previous reports of a top-left hole-punch camera appear to be a mistranslation of internal component relocation. The leak indicates Apple will keep the centered, pill-shaped Dynamic Island, but shrink it by moving the flood illuminator underneath the screen. This evolution aligns with Apple's typical incremental design changes, avoiding a drastic external redesign.

For consumers, this means the familiar under-display Face ID system will remain, but with a less intrusive front cutout. The move resolves months of speculation and suggests a clearer path for the iPhone 18 Pro's September unveiling. Industry watchers will now focus on other potential features, like the rumored A19 chip and new camera sensors, as the design story settles.
