Tom’s Guide tested the new iPad mini 8 and achieved 14 hours and 24 minutes of Wi-Fi web browsing—far exceeding Apple’s advertised 10 hours. The test used 150 nits brightness, matching the outlet’s standard methodology. While Apple lists identical battery specs for the iPad mini 7 and 8, the new model’s A20 Pro chip and OLED display may explain the efficiency gains, despite a slightly smaller battery.
Tom’s Guide typically runs the test three times but conducted a single run for this review, though they expect similar results upon retesting. The iPad mini 8 launches Friday starting at $699 in the U.S.
