iOS 27 Wallet Adds Digital Pass Creation for Tickets and Memberships

Apple's iOS 27 Wallet app introduces a Create a Pass feature that converts physical tickets and membership cards into digital versions. The tool uses Visual Intelligence to scan existing passes or offers manual entry for missing digital options. This addresses the long-standing gap where users couldn't store non-digital cards in Wallet.

Three template types cover Standard, Membership, and Event passes, each capturing essential details like venue location and admission type. Users snap photos of barcodes or QR codes to generate scannable digital versions. The customization options include 12 background colors plus seven themed backgrounds for theater, music, sports, and movies.

Field flexibility lets users add or remove data points including date, coupon codes, VIN numbers, and insurance information. This granular control means most physical cards can now live digitally in the Wallet ecosystem. The feature essentially digitizes the analog world Apple previously ignored.

Android 17's simultaneous Gemini Intelligence rollout puts pressure on Apple to deliver comparable AI features. Wallet's pass creation bridges convenience gaps while competing against Google's integrated AI approach across its mobile platform.
