iOS 26.4 Makes Hotspot Data Tracking Easier

Apple has simplified hotspot data monitoring with iOS 26.4, moving the Personal Hotspot usage tracker from buried cellular settings to the main hotspot menu. This change addresses a long-standing frustration for users who share their iPhone's data connection with laptops, iPads, or family members, making it significantly easier to monitor data consumption on capped plans.

Previously, checking which devices were using your hotspot required navigating through multiple menus to find the information hidden in cellular settings. Now, users can simply open Settings, tap Personal Hotspot, and select Data Usage to see a breakdown of connected devices and their data consumption. Apple devices running iOS 26.4 or macOS 26.4 appear individually by name, while Android phones, Windows PCs, and older Apple devices are grouped under "Other Devices."

The feature only appears after hotspot usage, but users can reset their tracking statistics through Settings Cellular/Mobile Service if they want to start fresh. This update is particularly valuable for anyone on limited data plans who needs to keep close tabs on their monthly allowance and identify data-hungry devices.
