Apple Studio Displays Get 128GB Storage Upgrade

Apple has doubled the internal storage capacity of its Studio Display lineup to 128GB across both the standard and XDR models. The new displays feature A19 and A19 Pro chips, respectively, running an iOS-based operating system that manages camera processing, color calibration, and device management. This marks a significant increase from the previous 64GB configuration.

The storage upgrade appears driven by Apple's supply chain efficiency rather than user-facing functionality. The company likely leveraged existing NAND storage modules from its iPhone production to avoid developing smaller capacity components. While the additional space isn't utilized for consumer features, it provides headroom for firmware updates and system diagnostics over the displays' lifespan.

Alongside the storage increase, the Studio Display includes 8GB RAM while the XDR variant offers 12GB RAM. Both models launched today and are available through Apple's online store and retail locations. This hardware refresh positions the Studio Display family as more capable smart displays with enhanced processing power for features like Center Stage and spatial audio.
