Apple is reportedly developing two new Studio Display models with significant upgrades, according to a new report from MacRumors. Based on code found in internal Apple files, both models are expected to feature ProMotion technology with up to 120Hz refresh rates and HDR support for improved brightness and contrast.

The higher-end model will reportedly include superior speakers and additional or higher-spec ports, with Thunderbolt 5 expected for sufficient bandwidth to handle 5K resolution at 120Hz. Apple's current Studio Display features a six-speaker system with Spatial Audio support, along with one Thunderbolt 3 port and three USB-C ports for accessories.

Display analyst Ross Young previously suggested one model would feature mini-LED backlighting, potentially replacing Apple's Pro Display XDR. The higher-end version may also include an A19 or A19 Pro chip, up from the A13 Bionic in the current model. While a 32-inch screen is rumored for the premium version, this remains speculation rather than confirmed information from Apple's internal files.
