Apple has pushed a new beta firmware build, 9A5304b, to its AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2. The update is limited to developers and can be installed via the AirPods settings when the earbuds are paired with an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, ensuring compatibility with the upcoming interface changes and laying groundwork for future audio enhancements.

iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate will introduce a redesigned AirPods control pane and the first custom EQ option, letting users fine‑tune bass, mids and treble per ear. The same releases also integrate the new Siri AI, so voice commands route through the earbuds without reaching the host device across all supported device families.

Developers can enable beta downloads from the AirPods settings, a capability added in iOS 26 that streamlines testing across Apple’s ecosystem. By exposing these features early, Apple gathers real‑world data to refine the EQ curves and Siri interaction before the public rollout. The beta firmware thus serves as a bridge between hardware and the next OS generation for upcoming releases in 2026.
