Apple Releases macOS Golden Gate Beta 3 for Developers

Apple released the third developer beta of macOS Golden Gate two weeks after the second. Developers can retrieve the update from System Settings > General > Software Update, with Beta Updates toggled on and a free Apple developer account required.

Design tweaks focus on readability and consistency. Liquid Glass opacity improves readability, a new slider controls transparency, and updated shadows help users identify active windows. Apps now share uniform toolbars, edge‑to‑edge sidebars, flatter corners, and menu bars feature fewer icons.

The most visible shift comes with Siri AI, a chatbot‑style assistant embedded in Spotlight. Users can ask questions through the new Search or Ask interface, view chats in a dedicated app, and on recent Macs set custom voices with personalized pace and expressivity. Visual Intelligence lets Siri interpret on‑screen content, while a Write with Siri function generates or edits text.

AI extends to built‑in apps: Photos offers photo‑editing tools, Safari auto‑organizes tabs, the Passwords app can proclaim weak passwords, and the revamped Image Playground generates photorealistic images. macOS Golden Gate remains a developer‑only release, but Apple signals a public beta soon.
