Apple unveiled macOS Golden Gate 27 during its WWDC26 keynote, and the company is already pushing the first developer beta to registered testers. The release polishes the Liquid Glass design language, introduces a rebuilt Siri app, and pushes Apple Intelligence deeper into Safari and the Shortcuts app while upgrading the underlying system.

Developers can grab the update through System Settings by navigating to General, then Software Update, and choosing the macOS Developer Golden Gate Beta from the Beta Updates menu. Installing requires a registered developer account, and Apple explicitly warns users not to flash these early previews onto a Mac they depend on for daily work.

Apple cautioned that first betas can cripple apps, corrupt data, and vary wildly in stability from one release to the next. Third-party software frequently breaks during the initial cycle, and crashes or compatibility issues often surface well after installation, so this release should stay on secondary hardware reserved for testing.

9to5Mac is already tearing down the build to uncover changes Apple did not mention during the presentation. The site plans to publish a deeper look at the new features and any buried tweaks as its evaluation continues, giving developers an early map of what has actually changed under the hood.
