Apple released first public betas of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS Golden Gate this week after a month of developer testing, with official launch expected this fall. Installation guides and feature highlights are available for testers.

The 2026 Back to School promotion launched in the U.S. and other countries, offering up to a $150 gift card with MacBook Pro purchases and $100 for MacBook Air, iPad Pro, or iPad Air. MacBook Neo, desktop Macs, iPad mini, and entry-level iPad are excluded.

Apple filed a lawsuit accusing OpenAI of stealing trade secrets to build AI hardware, claiming OpenAI's hardware business is "rotten to its core." OpenAI denied the allegations, stating it has "no interest in other companies' trade secrets."

Mark Gurman reports a revamped iPad mini with OLED display arriving by October, followed by updated iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Pro models in early 2027. Apple is also developing new smart home devices and accelerating its M7 chip family, skipping M6 Pro/Max variants. The M7 Ultra could support up to 1.5TB of unified memory for AI servers.
