Apple today seeded the seventh betas of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 to developers for testing purposes, arriving one week after the sixth betas were released. Registered developers can download the updates from the Settings app on iPhone or iPad by navigating to General and selecting Software Update.

The new software introduces Apple's smarter version of Siri, known as Siri AI, a chatbot similar to ChatGPT that incorporates general world knowledge, personal data from apps like Messages and Mail, and onscreen awareness. iOS 27 also features new Apple Intelligence capabilities in apps like Photos, Safari, Shortcuts, Wallet, and Passwords, plus a standalone Siri app housing conversations. A standalone Siri app has been added, and Visual Intelligence has been relocated to the Camera app with a new Siri mode.

Apple also refined the look of Liquid Glass and added a transparency slider. Significant performance improvements aim to speed up the operating system, making everything feel faster even on older iPhones. Apps launch quicker, AirDrop transfers are faster, the keyboard pops up more quickly, and devices transition better between Wi-Fi and Cellular to maintain connectivity.
