Apple emailed users this week with a last‑call to update the Home app by February 10, 2026. Missing the deadline could break accessory connections, halt automations, or lock users out of their smart‑home dashboard entirely. The notice also warns that unupdated devices will miss new capabilities such as robot vacuum cleaner support and critical security patches.

To apply the update, open the app, tap the three‑dot menu, select Home Settings, then choose Software Update and hit Update Now. The process refreshes every home linked to the account simultaneously. Apple requires a minimum of iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, macOS 13.1, tvOS 16.2, and watchOS 9.2 for the new architecture.

The 2022 rollout introduced a more reliable Home architecture, but legacy installations still linger on older OS versions. As Apple phases out support, consumers will need to align their devices with the latest software to keep smart‑home routines running smoothly and stay protected against emerging threats. Watch for future HomeKit enhancements that may arrive with iOS 27.
