Apple has removed the dedicated iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps from tvOS 26.4, completing a transition that began in 2023. The company is now directing all movie and TV show purchases through the Apple TV app, consolidating content in one location.

Apple started phasing out these separate apps back in 2023, initially keeping them available to help users locate their purchased content and access the iTunes Wish List feature. The company had already removed TV Shows and Movies sections from the iPhone and iPad TV apps with iOS 17.2 and iPadOS 17.2, eliminating iTunes wishlists in those updates. After customer complaints, wishlist options were briefly restored but Apple recently began warning users about their impending removal.

Customers with existing iTunes Wish Lists have received emails notifying them of the feature's removal, with instructions to migrate their lists to the Apple TV watchlist. The update also brings changes to audio settings, replacing Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio and adding options for Dolby Digital 5.1, Stereo Only, or Auto mode. tvOS 26.4 is currently available to developers and public beta testers, with a full release planned for spring.
