Apple is preparing tvOS 26.4 for Apple TV 4K users with three significant updates arriving next month. The beta version introduces easier subtitle customization, moving the feature from Accessibility settings directly into the video player's 'Style' menu. Users can now choose from Classic, Large Text, Outline Text, or Transparent Background options, with a 'Manage Styles' button for custom creations.

A new 'Continuous Audio Connection' toggle appears in Settings under Video and Audio, potentially improving compatibility with devices like Sonos speakers. Apple describes this feature as using Dolby MAT connections for seamless format transitions, which could resolve audio issues for users with older receivers. The update also completes Apple's migration away from legacy iTunes apps by removing the standalone Movies and TV Shows applications.

The final change eliminates the Movies and TV Shows apps, consolidating all content into the TV app. While most functionality already existed there, users will lose the iTunes Wish List feature, which Apple recommends replacing with the TV app's Watchlist. These updates reflect Apple's ongoing refinement of the Apple TV experience, streamlining navigation and improving accessibility features while phasing out outdated interfaces.
