Apple rolled out tvOS 26.4 this week, bringing a suite of tweaks to every Apple TV 4K and HD model from 2015 onward. The update lands through Settings → System → Software Updates. Among the changes, the new Genius Browse tab in the Apple TV app offers personalized categories like “Bittersweet Family Dramas” and “Good for a Pick‑Me‑Up.”

Audio continuity receives a fix with a new Continuous Audio Connection setting under Video and Audio → Audio Format → HDMI Output. Apple says the feature uses a Dolby MAT link to keep sound smooth when switching between Dolby Atmos and stereo programs, eliminating glitches that previously plagued some receivers.

Subtitle styling gets a makeover: viewers can now tweak size, font, and background transparency directly from the video player’s speech‑bubble button, bypassing the Settings menu. The update also drops the legacy iTunes TV Shows and Movies apps, consolidating all titles into the Apple TV app for a cleaner experience.

Performance and stability improvements round out the patch, addressing minor bugs that slowed earlier releases. Users can install the update via the Settings app, and the changes apply instantly. With these refinements, Apple tightens its ecosystem, ensuring that older hardware remains competitive while offering fresh content discovery tools.
