Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip8 has cleared FCC certification, revealing the US model will pack Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The certification documents show the SM8850 model number, confirming Samsung's flagship processor choice for American buyers. This represents a significant upgrade over previous iterations.

Interestingly, Samsung appears to be taking a regional approach to chipsets. While US customers get Qualcomm's latest silicon, reports indicate Korea and Europe will receive models equipped with Exynos 2600 instead. Most other global markets will follow the US configuration with Snapdragon processors.

Beyond the chipset news, the Flip8 is rumored to introduce a crease-free display alongside an updated hinge mechanism. Samsung will reportedly offer the foldable in Cream, Graphite, Mint, and Pink color options, with storage configurations available at 256GB and 512GB capacities.

This chipset strategy reflects Samsung's ongoing balancing act between performance optimization and supply chain management. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 should deliver noticeably improved performance in the US market compared to previous generations.
