Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Battery Gets Significant Boost Over Original

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will pack a substantially larger battery than its predecessor, according to reports from SamMobile. The new model reportedly features a 784 mAh battery (likely marketed as 800 mAh), representing a notable jump from the original Watch Ultra's 590 mAh capacity. This suggests Samsung is prioritizing endurance for the rugged wearable line.

Meanwhile, the standard Galaxy Watch9's 40mm variant appears to get a more modest upgrade to around 382 mAh (400 mAh typical), up from the Watch8's 325 mAh. The 44mm Watch9 maintains the same 435 mAh cell as its predecessor. Both new models retain 10W charging speeds, matching the current generation.

The battery improvements come as Samsung prepares to launch its next wave of wearables alongside the Galaxy Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 series. A larger battery in the Ultra 2 addresses one criticism of the original model, which some users found lacking in multi-day longevity despite its premium positioning.

Samsung hasn't confirmed these specifications officially, but the 3C certification for charging speeds suggests the company is finalizing details ahead of the rumored July 22 unveiling.
