Samsung has achieved a major milestone in 6G development, successfully testing X-MIMO technology that delivered 3Gbps download speeds in the 7GHz band. The test, conducted with KT Corporation, used an ultra-high-density antenna system with four times more antennas while maintaining the same physical footprint as current equipment.

This breakthrough demonstrates how X-MIMO could become the foundation of 6G networks. The 7GHz band offers an optimal balance between capacity and coverage while remaining in the millimeter wave spectrum. Researchers streamed eight data streams simultaneously from a base station to a user device, replicating real-world outdoor network conditions using KT's expertise.

The achievement positions Samsung as a pioneer in next-generation mobile network development. While 6G deployment remains years away, this test validates critical technologies that will enable the massive speed and capacity improvements promised by future networks. The compact antenna design is particularly significant, as it suggests 6G infrastructure could be deployed without requiring dramatically larger equipment than current 5G systems.
