Chinese smartphone maker Redmi rolled out two new mid‑range devices, the R70 and R70m, on Tuesday. Both sport a 6.9‑inch LCD panel with 720 × 1600 resolution, 120 Hz refresh, and 800‑nit peak brightness. Under the hood sits the Unisoc T8300 SoC paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

Each model carries a 13 MP rear shooter and an 8 MP front lens. The standard R70 houses a 6,000 mAh cell capable of 15 W wired charging and 7.5 W reverse charging, while the R70m trims the capacity to 6,300 mAh but retains identical charging rates. Touch sampling runs at 240 Hz and smooth input.

The R70 starts at CNY 1,599, roughly $234, and comes in 4 GB/128 GB, 6 GB/128 GB, 6 GB/256 GB or 8 GB/256 GB variants. The R70m begins at CNY 1,799 (about $263) with options ranging from 6 GB/128 GB up to 12 GB/256 GB for consumers. Both are offered in black, white, blue and purple.

By bundling a high‑refresh display with a large‑capacity battery at sub‑$300 price points, Redmi aims to capture cost‑conscious buyers in a crowded Chinese market. No official word confirms export plans, leaving overseas enthusiasts to wait. The R70 series delivers value‑focused specs without venturing beyond domestic sales.
