Oppo Reno16 Series Pricing Sparks Backlash

Oppo's latest Reno16 series is facing criticism over aggressive pricing, according to a recent poll. Consumers are calling the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro "overpriced" despite being capable mid-range devices. The market appears to be sending a clear signal: flagship-level prices for mid-tier performance don't align with consumer expectations.

The Oppo Reno16 starts at €900, discounted to €800 in July. It runs on a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset with a basic 50MP camera. At this price point, buyers expect more flagship features, making the proposition unappealing.

The Reno16 Pro offers better value with a Dimensity 8550 chip and 200MP main camera. its €1,100 MSRP drops to €900 this month for the 12/512GB model. Still, poll respondents largely fall into two camps: those wanting cheaper mid-rangers or those willing to spend more for true flagship performance.

With 2025 flagships available around €1,000 and 2026 models on the horizon, these mid-range phones struggle to justify their pricing. The Reno16 Pro's superior specs help, but the market is sending a clear message about value.
