Huawei surprised observers by officially confirming the processor inside its new MatePad Pro Max tablet. At a HarmonyOS conference in China, the company revealed the device runs on the Kirin T93 Pro SoC - a departure from its usual secrecy about chipset specifications.

Since US sanctions began seven years ago, Huawei has rarely disclosed exact chip models in its devices. Chinese tipsters suggest the T93 Pro might be a modified Kirin 9030 Pro variant without cellular connectivity. If accurate, this would place flagship-level performance in the tablet.

Huawei claims the MatePad Pro Max delivers 45% better system performance thanks to the SoC, improved heat dissipation, and HarmonyOS 6 optimizations. The tablet joins the Mate 80 series and Mate X7 in using the company's current top-tier silicon.

This transparency marks a potential shift in Huawei's communication strategy, though the lack of detailed specifications leaves performance questions unanswered for consumers evaluating the premium tablet.
