Google Launches Tap to Share on Pixels and Samsung Devices

For a while now, Google has been rumored to be working on an Android equivalent of Apple's Name Drop. Today that rumor became official as Tap to Share. The feature launches on Pixels from the Pixel 6 onwards and on Samsung’s newest foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra and Flip8.

The name describes the action: tap two supported devices together. Once the phones are close, contact info, photos, videos and more are exchanged automatically. It’s that simple.

To swap contact data, stay on the home screen, bring the phones close, and a two‑way exchange occurs. You can pick which fields to share or opt to receive only the other person’s card. For photos or videos, use the Share Sheet and tap the devices.

You can disable Tap to Share anytime under Settings > Google > Quick Share > Tap to Share. Google also promises to extend support to more devices by the end of the year.
