Google lowered the price of its AI Plus subscription, cutting the monthly fee from $8 to $5 and expanding the bundled cloud quota. The plan now offers 400 GB of storage—double the previous 200 GB—and applies across Gmail, Drive, and Photos. It reinforces Google's push to monetize AI across its consumer platform.

The move follows Gemini’s integration into Apple’s Siri, a win that signals Google’s intent to dominate the generative‑AI market. Product lead Vikas Kansal confirmed the adjustment on X, noting the new tier essentially replaces legacy Google One plans. Subscribers gain access to Gemini features such as inbox assistance, Daily Brief, and the Omni video‑generation tool. It forces rivals to rethink pricing for AI‑enhanced bundles aggressively.

For consumers, the cheaper entry point and larger storage pool make AI‑enhanced workflows more affordable, especially for small businesses that rely on cloud collaboration. By bundling AI capabilities with core Google services, the company tightens its ecosystem lock‑in while undercutting rivals’ subscription fees. The revised AI Plus plan now delivers tangible value at a price point many can justify.
