Google has cut the price of its AI Plus subscription to $5 a month, down from $8. The change, announced by Product Lead Vikas Kansal, also doubles the plan’s storage to 400GB from 200GB. The tweak makes Gemini 3 Pro, Nano Banana Pro and Deep Research more affordable for users everywhere today daily use.

Launched in January 2026, the AI Plus plan originally bundled high‑tier Gemini models with a $8 monthly fee. By lowering the price and tightening usage limits, Google positions the plan as a budget entry point while still offering advanced AI tools. Existing subscribers will see extra storage reflected on the next bill for all users.

The update comes after Google I/O 2026, during which Google unveiled new AI features. The plan now includes AI‑powered email tools, a Daily Brief agent that summarizes the day in the Gemini app, and access to Gemini Omni, a model that generates video from any input. These additions aim to boost productivity and creativity daily.

By slashing the fee to $5, Google signals a shift toward broader consumer adoption of its Gemini ecosystem. The doubled storage and bundled AI services give users value per dollar, while the tighter usage caps keep the service sustainable for the company. Customers can enroll on Google’s website, with changes taking effect within days for all customers today and soon.
