Google has doubled its AI Pro storage offering from 2TB to 5TB without increasing the monthly subscription price, remaining at $20 per month. The upgrade was confirmed by Google's VP and general manager of Google Photos and Google One, Shimrit Ben-Yair, on X. This boost addresses growing storage demands from AI tools like Gemini, Docs, Photos, and Drive that now create larger files.

The increased storage applies to Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos backups, with the update rolling out worldwide. AI Pro subscribers now receive more storage than the entry-level AI plan without paying the $49.99 monthly fee for the 10TB tier. The upgrade gives users extra room for AI-edited images, long documents, and videos that consume substantial space.

This strategic move by Google aims to encourage more subscriptions to its AI Pro plan, as standard Google One customers remain limited to the same storage allocations. While 5TB for $20 monthly represents a competitive offering for those needing Gemini Advanced features, the unchanged standard plans suggest Google continues to prioritize its AI-focused offerings over traditional storage tiers.
