Samsung is rolling out the May 2026 security patch to the Galaxy A54, surprising users who expect flagship phones to get updates first. The company already delivered a similar patch to the Galaxy A55, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra still sits on April's patch level.

The update carries build number A546EXXSJEZE5 and weighs roughly 286.79MB. It patches two critical flaws: an elevation of privilege bug in the Android Kernel and a remote code execution vulnerability in the wireless ADB debugging interface. Another 28 high-severity and six moderate issues are also fixed.

Samsung's staged rollout has begun in Asian and Middle Eastern markets, with India and Saudi Arabia among the first to receive it. While it's uncommon for midrange devices to leapfrog flagships in security prioritization, Samsung's A5x series is getting attention this month. Owners of older models should check for updates.
