Apple iPhone Fold/Ultra Launch Reportedly Pushed to Early 2026

Supply chain sources suggest Apple's first foldable iPhone won't arrive this autumn as expected. Largan Precision CEO Lin En-ping indicated that some new products are delayed to early next year, with analysts connecting this to the rumored iPhone Ultra/Fold. This pushes back what many anticipated would be a September launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.

Apple initially seemed poised to unveil the device as a surprise addition to its fall event, potentially following the iPhone X playbook of announcing ahead of a delayed release. However, the company has already confirmed it will split the iPhone 18 reveal into two phases, with Pro models arriving in September 2026 and standard variants in spring 2027.

The delay means predictions about Apple entering the top-three foldable market positions in 2026 appear premature. Despite the timing shift, market analysts still project the iPhone Fold could ship 11 million units in its first year, suggesting strong consumer demand remains whenever it eventually launches.

Supply chain timing gives Apple more breathing room to perfect the foldable design, but competitors like Samsung and Huawei gain another year to strengthen their positions in the growing foldable segment.
