iPhone Fold likely delayed to 2027, supply chain says

Supply‑chain chatter suggests Apple will unveil the long‑rumored iPhone Fold at its September 2026 event, but actual shipments may not arrive until months later. Apple insiders have noted positive signs of development, yet multiple reports flag postponements. The latest hint comes from Largan Precision, Apple’s lens supplier, whose CEO warned that some product rollouts could slip into the following year.

Largan’s Enping Lin told shareholders that “new opportunities will be announced in the third quarter,” adding that certain launches would shift to early next year. Around the same time, Xinrixing’s general manager Ruan Chaozong, responsible for bearings used in folding mechanisms, said the firm is waiting on Apple’s final shipping schedule. Both comments point to a rescheduled debut.

If the device slips to 2027, Apple may limit initial volumes, echoing the modest rollout of first‑generation AirPods. A delayed launch could also push back development of a second‑generation, bezel‑free or flip‑style model slated for 2028. The market now watches supply‑chain cues more closely, as each timing shift reshapes expectations for Apple’s folding‑phone ambitions. Analysts will adjust forecasts accordingly. Retail partners are already planning inventory strategies.
