Bluetooth headphones have become ubiquitous, offering convenience and comfort. While features like active noise canceling often take center stage, a crucial, yet less advertised, feature for most consumers is Bluetooth multipoint. This technology allows a Bluetooth device to connect to multiple devices simultaneously, seamlessly switching between audio streams.

Multipoint significantly reduces the friction associated with switching audio between devices, a common annoyance with standard Bluetooth connections. It enables a pair of headphones, such as the Sony WH-1000 XM6, to stay connected to, for instance, a laptop and a smartphone. When a call comes in on the phone while listening to music on the laptop, the headphones automatically prioritize the call audio.
