Amazon-owned startup Zoox unveiled a revamped robotaxi slated for mass production. The new model keeps the boxy silhouette of the 2020 design but adds comfort tweaks and clearer exterior signaling. Design changes aim to ease rider interaction and improve visibility in mixed traffic for safer crossings daily during peak hours.

Externally, Zoox repositioned bidirectional reflectors and added color‑changing panels to distinguish front from rear. Inside, a lighter palette, aloe‑green seats, stone‑grey flooring, padded benches and headrests respond to rider feedback. A larger touchscreen and cupholders round out a more approachable cabin for commuters and tourists alike in downtown Las Vegas.

Production will launch at Zoox’s Hayward, California plant, targeting up to 100 vehicles a week once regulatory clearance arrives. The company plans to add the updated units to its Las Vegas Strip fleet later this year, expanding services that began in September 2025 after extensive testing for city commuters.

Zoox’s iteration signals a shift from toy‑like prototypes to commercial readiness. By refining visibility, comfort, and communication features, the firm aims to make autonomous rides safer and user‑friendly. The move underscores Amazon’s broader push into mobility tech, tightening its foothold in a market edging toward full automation by 2026.
