Xbox Adds Per-Game Quick Resume Toggle

Microsoft is rolling out a highly anticipated feature allowing all Xbox owners to disable Quick Resume on a per-game basis. The option, tested with Xbox Insiders in March, addresses long-standing frustrations with Quick Resume for games requiring consistent internet connections, which often caused players to be bounced back to menus or forced to restart their gaming sessions. This update arrives as part of Microsoft's comprehensive April Xbox console and PC app refresh cycle.

Quick Resume has been a flagship feature since the Xbox Series S and X launch, enabling seamless switching between suspended games without losing progress. Beyond this specific fix, Microsoft expanded the number of game groups that can be pinned to the home screen, added interface customization options including custom colors, and improved play history tracking functionality. The Xbox PC app now supports any gamepad for cursor movement and allows adding non-Microsoft games to personal libraries.

These broader updates reflect new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma's strategic direction to "recommit" to the Xbox brand, following recent changes like the significant Xbox Game Pass price cut (Ultimate tier reduced from $30 to $23 monthly). The more frequent software updates demonstrate Microsoft's renewed focus on improving user experience across its entire gaming ecosystem, directly addressing specific pain points while expanding customization options for both console and PC players.
