Waymo has officially launched its fully autonomous robotaxi service in Miami, marking the fifth city in its national expansion. The service now covers a 60-square-mile area including the Design District and Wynwood, with plans to expand to Miami International Airport. This follows a November testing phase without passengers.

Nearly 10,000 Miami residents have already signed up for the service, which will send out invitations on a rolling basis. Waymo claims its autonomous vehicles have achieved a ten-fold reduction in serious crash injuries compared to human drivers in its existing operational areas.

The company's Florida expansion will continue to Orlando next, with San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas slated for 2026. This move further establishes autonomous ride-hailing as a viable transportation option in major U.S. markets beyond its initial West Coast strongholds.
