Tesla has launched its robotaxi service in a limited section of West Miami, marking the company's latest autonomous ride-hailing expansion. The rollout mirrors the strategy used in Dallas and Houston earlier this year, keeping initial operations outside the dense downtown core. Videos circulating on X show passengers riding in unsupervised Model Y vehicles — no safety monitor behind the wheel, a departure from the controversial supervised launch in Austin.

The Miami debut follows Tesla's expansion across the entire Austin metro area last month, where the service graduated from monitored to driverless operation. Miami already hosts Waymo robotaxis, which began commercial service in January, while Zoox has started employee testing ahead of its own public launch. Three major autonomous fleets now converge on the same market.

Tesla's published roadmap lists Orlando, Tampa, Phoenix, and Las Vegas as upcoming targets. The company is moving methodically — geographic constraints first, then gradual expansion — rather than the broad deployments rivals favor. Whether this measured approach scales faster than Waymo's city-by-city strategy remains the central question.
