Universal Pictures has secured the rights to adapt ten Atari video game properties for film. The partnership covers iconic titles such as Asteroids, Adventure, Berzerk, Breakout, Centipede, Crystal Castles, Millipede, Missile Command, Pong, and Yars' Revenge.

Universal has already acquired a screenplay for one of the Atari titles, penned by Matt Reilly and Carl Hampe. Guymon Casady will produce the film. Casady expressed excitement about capturing the imaginative spirit of Atari games for a new cinematic adventure. Atari Chairman and CEO Wade Rosen highlighted the brand's enduring cultural impact and the opportunity to translate its iconic games to a new medium with Universal and Entertainment 360.

This is not Universal's first attempt at an Atari adaptation; the studio previously acquired rights for Asteroids in 2009, though no film materialized from that deal.
