Nintendo has revealed Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, bringing its popular motion-controlled sports series to the upcoming Switch 2 console. The sequel to 2022's Nintendo Switch Sports will launch on October 22, featuring twelve activities playable solo or with friends via Joy-Con 2 motion controls. The announcement came during Tuesday's Nintendo Direct event.

The game includes traditional sports like bowling, tennis, basketball, golf, and boxing, along with warm-up activities such as jump rope. Nintendo has also added leisure sports like power cruising, prop plane flying, and skateboarding. By far the most unusual activity is thumb wrestling, where players hold the Joy-Con 2 vertically and tilt it to trap their opponent's thumb.

Following the success of Wii Sports in 2006, Nintendo's motion-controlled sports games have become a staple for family entertainment. The Switch Sports Resort continues this tradition by combining familiar gameplay with new activities. Pre-orders are now open for the game ahead of its October 22 release on Switch 2.
