Engadget's latest indie roundup highlights several new releases and an upcoming Valentine's Day Steam festival. The Love, Romance, and Heartbreak Debutante Ball runs February 13-20, featuring over 100 games with discounts and a showcase on Sunny Demeanor Games' YouTube channel. It's a first for the platform, focusing on love-themed titles from RPGs to visual novels.

Among the new releases is Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, a 3D checkpoint simulator from Brigada Games and Devolver Digital. It tasks players with screening survivors during a zombie outbreak, blending Papers Please-style bureaucracy with resource management. Air Hares, a top-down shooter from Tim and Megan Bungeroth, inverts the genre by having players restore farmland with seeds and water.

Other notable launches include Big Hops, a 3D platformer from Luckshot Games where a kidnapped frog uses its tongue to navigate, and Cassette Boy, a world-rotating puzzle game from Wonderland Kazakiri. Upcoming titles like Aerial_Knight's DropShot (a skydiving FPS) and Earth Must Die (a star-studded point-and-click adventure) are also generating buzz ahead of their late-January releases.
