Motorola Razr Fold Review: A Solid Samsung Alternative

Motorola is finally competing in the US book-style foldable market with its first big-screen contender, and the result is impressive. The Razr Fold features a 6.6-inch exterior display that opens to reveal an 8.1-inch interior screen pumping out over 6,000 nits of peak brightness. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, it earned a solid 8.8/10 rating from Engadget.

Where the Razr Fold really stands out is battery life. Thanks to a new 6,000mAh silicon-carbon cell, the phone lasted 24 hours and 22 minutes in testing, beating both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (20:50) and Pixel 10 Pro Fold (21:20). Charging reaches 80W wired or 50W wirelessly, though you'll need to buy Motorola's TurboPower adapter separately. The 50MP main camera produced consistently sharper photos than Samsung's 200MP sensor, with more vibrant colors.

However, trade-offs exist. At 8.6 ounces and 4.7mm thick, it's bulkier than the sleeker Z Fold 7. Native stylus support is a nice bonus (the Pen Ultra is $100 extra), but there's no built-in storage for it. The IP49 water resistance also falls short of competitors' dust protection, and Motorola's AI suite feels barebones compared to Samsung and Google. Still, this is a strong first effort that proves Motorola can hang with the big players.
