Apple's press release for the iPhone Duo last week said the device will ship with iOS 27.1, confirming the software update's release timing. iPhone Duo launches on Friday, October 23, so iOS 27.1 is expected by that date at the latest — likely several days earlier. Following three months of beta testing, iOS 27 will be released to the public today, and the first beta of iOS 27.1 will likely follow soon after.

During its iPhone event last week, Apple announced that Siri AI will be available in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish starting in October. This expanded language support beyond English will likely arrive with iOS 27.1. Apple recently said two new features will not be available in the initial iOS 27 release, including "Add to Reminders" and "Add to Notes" in the Messages app and the ability to automatically fix compromised passwords with a single tap in the Passwords app. These features will likely arrive in iOS 27.1.

iOS 27.1 also supports the iPhone Duo's unique foldable interface. While this is all that is known for now, we expect iOS 27.1 to include other new features, bug fixes, and security fixes, so stay tuned.
