Motorola Razr Fold vs Galaxy Z Fold 7: Hands-on Comparison

Motorola unveiled its first book-style foldable, the Razr Fold, at MWC 2026 after a preliminary CES 2026 showing left many questions unanswered. The company finally revealed full specifications including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, and seven-year software support commitment. I compared it side-by-side with my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 review unit.

While Motorola opted for the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 rather than the Elite variant found in Samsung's latest foldable, the Razr Fold still impresses with thoughtful upgrades. The device features Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 cover glass for better drop protection and matches the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with 16GB/1TB and 12GB/256GB configuration options. However, at 243 grams and 4.6mm unfolded thickness, it's noticeably heavier and thicker than Samsung's 215-gram, 4.2mm offering.

The Razr Fold's standout features include its massive battery capacity and charging speeds—80W wired and 50W wireless—which dwarf the Galaxy Z Fold 7's 4,400mAh battery. The outer 6.6-inch display supports 165Hz variable refresh rate, and PANTONE-themed materials give it a unique premium feel. With its bold design choices, competitive specs, and seven-year software guarantee, Motorola's foldable could shake up the U.S. market despite not outperforming Samsung in every metric.
