The coming-of-age musical adventure game Mixtape will finally hit shelves on May 7, 2026, after being pushed back from its original 2025 target. Developed by Beethoven and Dinosaur, the narrative-focused title follows three friends navigating their final high school days. The game promises to capture the restless ennui of teenage life through both story and soundtrack.

Game director Johnny Galvatron explained the unique challenge of portraying teenage idleness in an interactive medium. "Idleness is hard to explore as a video game, and one of the interesting things about being a teenager is you just hang out a lot, and sometimes it just sucks," Galvatron told Engadget. The game aims to make players feel that familiar boredom and uncertainty that defines the teenage experience.

Mixtape will launch on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The soundtrack features iconic punk and alternative artists including DEVO, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Smashing Pumpkins, and Iggy Pop. This musical lineup promises to transport players back to the alternative scene that defined a generation's coming-of-age stories.
