MindsEye Developer Faces More Layoffs

Build a Rocket Boy (BARB) has reportedly laid off approximately 170 staff, reducing the Scotland-based studio's workforce to around 80 employees. MindsEye, the troubled game developed by BARB, continues to face fallout after its disastrous launch. Former employees like Technical Level Designer James Tyler and Audio Designer Tom Cross have confirmed their departures on LinkedIn.

The layoffs represent another wave of cuts following BARB's separation from partner IO Interactive in March. Studio officials claim while buggy software contributed to negative press, MindsEye was also the victim of internal and external "sabotage." The planned crossover with IO's Hitman series was canceled, further complicating the studio's position.

BARB has consistently maintained the game's problems stemmed from more than just launch issues. In a controversial move, the studio promised to reveal information about the alleged conspiracy through playable DLC released earlier this month. The ongoing workforce reduction raises serious questions about the studio's future viability.
