PlayStation 5 owners can now experience Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 in virtual reality. The PS VR2 support went live Thursday, months after the game launched on Sony's console in December. Asobo Studio had originally planned to release this update across all platforms last week but needed extra time to fix critical bugs announced on April 16.

The update brings several quality-of-life improvements. Players can now disable the heads-up display in VR while keeping it visible in 2D mode. Screenshots now save directly to the PlayStation 5's media gallery instead of the game's internal storage, making it easier to share images. The studio also unlocked all career modes, including those for heavy and VTOL aircraft, and improved ground services so that if one service is unavailable, others continue working.

Asobo Studio promises performance gains too, with reduced stuttering and frame rate boosts "especially in large cities and complex airports." A new weather radar API now lets aircraft developers add authentic weather systems including tilt functionality. The update delivers on one of the most requested features since the game's PS5 debut.
