Sony enhances PS5 Pro upscaling with PSSR update

Sony has released an enhanced version of its PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology for the PS5 Pro through today's system update. The improved upscaling technology addresses one of the key reasons gamers might pay a premium for the more powerful console - peak image quality. Sony had previously teased this update last month.

PSSR uses AI to analyze games pixel-by-pixel, delivering better visuals even at lower resolutions. The latest update revamps the algorithm and neural network, resulting in more precise image reconstruction and improved motion stability. Developers now have greater flexibility to balance performance and fidelity on PS5 Pro.

The enhanced PSSR is available for supported games, including titles like Silent Hill 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Dragon's Dogma 2. PS5 Pro owners can enable the improved upscaling via a toggle in the Screen and Video settings menu for all compatible titles.
