Meta is developing camera-free smart glasses codenamed Luna, with a planned launch as early as October. According to The Information, the device will be unveiled at the Connect developer conference on September 23-24. The new model comes in two styles, Clubmaster and Burbank, and features six built-in microphones and speakers for AI interaction.

While lacking a camera, users can activate Meta AI via a side button. This move addresses privacy concerns that have plagued Meta's current camera-equipped models, which have faced criticism for secretly recording people. Previous updates attempted to fix LED light tampering loopholes, but the negative reputation persists.

Meta hopes the camera-less design will attract new customers deterred by privacy issues. The Information reports the company is planning to ship the new model soon after announcement.
