Meta is now blocking links to ICE List across its platforms, including Facebook and Threads. The website, a crowdsourced wiki, documents incidents involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol agents. It also lists the names of thousands of employees. Meta's move follows reports in *Wired* that highlighted the presence of agent names on the site.

The action appears to stem from Meta’s privacy policies, which prohibit the disclosure of personally identifiable information. The site's creators have stated much of the information came from a leak, though a large portion of the data seems to be pulled from public LinkedIn profiles. This incident is not the first time Meta has intervened regarding ICE-related content.

Previously, Meta removed a Facebook group tracking ICE sightings in Chicago. The company's decision to block the links after several weeks of them being shared raises questions. It's unclear whether Meta considers the information, particularly from public LinkedIn profiles, a violation of its policies against doxxing.

This move by Meta reflects the ongoing tension between social media platforms and content that could potentially reveal personal information. As online privacy concerns grow, expect platforms to increasingly scrutinize content that could lead to doxxing or other privacy breaches. The situation also highlights the challenges of balancing free speech with user safety.
