Android 17 QPR1 Beta 8 Fixes Audio Bug on Pixel

Android 17 QPR1 Beta 8 addresses the long‑running audio bug that plagued Pixel devices, removing random crackling, distortion, and loud static that had generated 30+ reports in Google's issue tracker.

The update, build CP31.260623.010, focuses on system stability and primarily fixes a buffer‑management issue in the audio framework. This glitch had persisted across hemmatic QPR1 beta releases, causing unpredictable crackles, corruption, and bursts of static during media playback or notifications.

Beta 8 is available for eligible Pixel devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program, covering the Pixel 6 series through the latest Pixel 10 lineup. Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro owners will receive this update but will not progress to Android 17 QPR2; the stable QPR1 release is expected to be their last major software update this September.

If you’ve been hesitant due to audio glitches, Beta 8 may now be stable enough for daily use, though the polished, stable QPR1 release is just around the corner.
