Google began rolling out Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 to eligible Pixel devices. The beta arrives almost three weeks after Beta 3, which followed the Android Show: I/O Edition 2026. The rollout targets the Pixel 6a first, while the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro remain off‑list for this build for test users.

Users of the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro receive build CP31.260522.006.A1, while all other eligible devices get CP31.260522.006. The update cleans up several glitches, including a disappearing mouse pointer on external displays and a screenshot shutter sound that ignored silent mode, and fixes issues with gesture responses and battery usage during recording sessions for daily users.

The patch also addresses frame drops and jittery footage when recording video at 5× zoom while panning, a complaint that surfaced after the early beta. These fixes improve media capture stability, a key concern for creators using Pixel phones for content production in both portrait and landscape shoots across different lighting conditions and on nighttime.

Google plans to ship the stable Android 17 release shortly after this beta cycle. The incremental updates reassure developers and users that the new OS will run smoothly on current hardware, reinforcing Google's strategy to keep Pixel devices competitive without new chipset launches in the long term and maintaining user confidence across regions globally while supporting.
